Float Glass

Guardian Glass selected Moffitt to design and install a new ventilation system for its float glass manufacturing plant, which includes a warehouse, a lehr, and a utility area.

The facility was engineered with a large open interior to accommodate the lehr. Due to the building’s scale and the intense heat generated by the kiln, natural ventilation proved to be the most effective cooling strategy. To support this, two oversized MoffittVent natural ventilators were installed on the roof, while fresh air is drawn in through numerous ground-level wall louvers.

Additionally, hooded roof exhaust fans were strategically positioned at key hot spots throughout the plant. These fans enhance airflow in areas where natural ventilation alone may fall short, helping maintain a consistently cooler and more comfortable environment.
