Metal Castings

CHALLENGE
Kovatch Castings in Uniontown, Ohio was experiencing exceptionally high temperatures around the autoclave boiler and the oven burners. The heat was even more intense during the summer. Worse still, the plant was experiencing ongoing negative pressure issues that were affecting how air moved throughout the building. One thing was certain; they needed better casting room ventilation.
SOLUTION
After the Kovatch Casting’s management watched some testimonial videos from previous Moffitt customers, they got excited about the possibility of evaporative natural cooling. The Moffitt design team developed a CFD model to show Kovatch management what they could expect with a new ventilation solution.
RESULTS
The new system includes two fifteen-foot long MatrixVent ventilators and two DeltaStream adiabatic cooling units. Moffitt also provided turn-key installation for this project through local Moffitt Certified Installer, Alcon Mechanical. The Moffitt team then followed up directly to provide start-up services and set up the HMI control panel. This customer also installed temperature sensors so they can log the results of the project. In the end, this resulted in superior casting room ventilation.
